A method of treating a medical condition in which an elevation of serotonin level is therapeutically beneficial in a subject in need thereof, and wherein the medical condition is selected from the group consisting of a mood disorder, a depression, an anxiety, a stress, an impaired cognitive function, a panic attach, a compulsive behavior, an addiction, a social phobia, a sleep disorder and a food related disorder, the method comprising administering to said subject at least one microRNA selected from the group consisting of miR-135, miR-335, miR-26 and miR-182, or a precursor thereof, or expressing in a cell of said subject an exogenous polynucleotide encoding said at least one microRNA or a precursor thereof, thereby treating the medical condition.
