Mapping non-relational database objects into a relational database model

According to some embodiments, information may be received about a non-relational database object, such as an InfoSet, InfoSet query, or Advanced Business Application Programming (“ABAP”) function for an enterprise resource planning system. The non-relational database object may then be mapped into a relational database model, such as a model associated with a business intelligence platform. As a result, Structured Query Language (“SQL”) inputs from a business intelligence platform may be used create reports based on information in an enterprise resource planning system.

1. A system comprising:
a computer processor; an interface to receive a structured query language (“SQL”) input associated with a non-relational data source from an end user; and a structured query language engine, coupled to the interface, to: (i) detect, via the computer processor, a type of non-relational database object that the SQL input is targeting, (ii) based on the type of non-relational database object, translate, via the computer processor, the SQL input into calls to an InfoSet, an InfoSet query, or an ABAP by (1) receiving a plurality of import parameters associated with the type of non-relational database object and a plurality of export parameters associated with the type of non-relational database object, (2) creating a first table with a primary key, wherein the created first table includes a column for: each of the plurality of import parameters, each of the plurality of export parameters, and an attribute identifier, and (3) creating a second table containing a column for: each of the plurality of import parameters, all fields of the first table, and one reference identifier attribute to reference the primary key of the first table, and (iii) forward the translated calls to the non-relational data source.
