PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that enables an image to be displayed on both surfaces and improves display definition of an image.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel includes: an array substrate 10 that is disposed on one surface side of a front surface and a rear surface; and an opposite substrate 20 that sandwiches a liquid crystal layer 30 between the array substrate 10 and itself and is disposed on the other surface side of the front surface and the rear surface. A plurality of pixels are defined in a matrix, correspondingly to a plurality of thin film transistors 13 and the plurality of pixels are separated into any of a front surface-purposed pixel A displaying an image on the other surface and a rear surface-purposed pixel B displaying the image on the one surface. In the front surface-purposed pixel A, the opposite substrate 20 is configured to transmit light and the array substrate 10 is configured to reflect the light toward the other surface side, and in the rear surface-purposed pixel B, the opposite substrate 20 is configured to reflect the light toward the one surface side and the array substrate 10 is configured to transmit the light, and thus, the front surface-purposed pixel A and the rear surface-purposed pixel B are alternatively darkened in a frame unit. |
