<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for reducing the volume of radioactive material contaminated soil capable of reducing huge soil at a high volume reduction rate and at low cost by separating and vaporizing cesium or other radioactive materials from the soil with small amount of heat energy.SOLUTION: Provided is a system for reducing the volume of contaminated soil 10 which comprises a separator vaporizer 20, a classifier 30, a water solubilization device 32, a gas purification device 40, an agglutinant reaction tank device 50, a pressure flotation tank device 60, and a solidification device 70. The separator vaporizer 20 jets flame on the surface of contaminated soil being agitated and separates and vaporizes radioactive materials with its heat and impact. The separated float dust is made water soluble by the water solubilization device 32 before being agglutinated. After separated by the pressure float tank device 60, the agglutinated float dust is reduced in volume and solidified by the solidification device 70. Radioactive materials in gas that could not be made water soluble are nearly completely adsorbed by an adsorption sponge 44B and discharged as purified air.</p> |
