An apparatus for generating point-of-interest (POI) information based on web collection includes: a POI information index DB which stores index information of POI information categorized by each ID; a collection unit which collects web data from a plurality of web sites; an extraction unit which extracts POI information from the web data collected by the collection unit; a mapping unit which maps web data, including the extracted POI information, with an obtained ID if obtaining the ID, mapped with the POI information extracted by the extraction unit, from the POI index DB; and a mapping database which stores a mapping relation between the web data and the obtained ID. During a search for the POI information upon user′s request, the web data, mapped with the ID of the POI information, are also searched. |
