PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container measurement device and measurement method that can easily and correctly perform automatic measurement of a level in a parting line, in which it is hard for conventional arts to automatically measure the level therein.SOLUTION: A container measurement device comprises: a turntable (40) on which a container is loaded in an upright state; an outer peripheral surface position measurement device (64) that measures a radius direction position of a container's outer peripheral surface in a plurality of circumferential direction positions in the vicinity of a parting line (PL) of the container (5) to be rotated by being loaded on the turntable (40); and a control device (50). The control device (50) is configured to: determine whether a level exists from an amount of change in result measured by the outer peripheral surface position measurement device (64) at each of the plurality of circumferential direction positions: determine a circumferential direction position of a level (5b); and determine a level dimension (δ) of the determined level from the radius direction position of the container's outer peripheral surface in the circumferential direction position of the determined level.
