Compositions and methods for inducing hair growth and improving hair quality utilizing extracts of blackberry in an amount effective to induce hair growth when applied topically to an area of the skin on which hair growth is desired.

A method of enhancing hair growth by applying to the scalp, the skin, the eyelashes, eyebrows, mustache region or beard region of a patient a topically active composition comprising a concentration of at least 90 mg extract/ml of solution but less than 300 mg/ml of a Rubus fruticosus extract, which increase hair coverage to the scalp after daily application for at least seven days.
