This method for determining alcohol use comprises the steps of: detecting multiple effective frames in an input audio signal; detecting difference signals in the original signals of the effective frames; detecting the average energy of the original signals and the average energy of the difference signals for the respective effective frames; and determining the state of alcohol use on the basis of a difference between the average energy of the original signals and the average energy of the difference signals for the respective effective frames. Accordingly, the present invention can identify the state and extent of alcohol use by a driver or an operator at a long distance by means of the energy of difference signals using an audio signal and thus can prevent accidents caused by driving or operating under the influence of alcohol.
