This two-dimensional code generation device is provided with: an image acquisition unit (17) which acquires, from a database (14) and on the basis of coding information for generating a two-dimensional code, an image that can visually indicate the type of information provided by the generated two-dimensional code; and a code generation unit (20) which generates the two-dimensional code on the basis of the coding information, wherein when the image acquisition unit (17) has acquired the image, the code generation unit (20) generates and superimposes the two-dimensional code on the acquired image. This makes it possible to visually determine the type of information provided by the two-dimensional code merely by looking at the two-dimensional code without reading the two-dimensional code. Since the image acquisition unit (17) acquires the image on the basis of the coding information, the image can be selected to match the information desired to be provided. |
