Textile Fastener with Cover

Embodiments of the invention are directed to textile fasteners. In one embodiment, the textile fastener may include a spherical member and a receiving member. The receiving member may include a flange portion and an opening within the flange portion where the opening is configured to receive the spherical member. In an embodiment, the insertion of the spherical member at least partially into the opening applies a friction force between the textile and the receiving member thereby attaching the textile fastener to the textile. In particular, magnetic interaction between the spherical member and the receiving member may maintain the friction force between the textile and the receiving member. The textile fastener also includes a cover member that substantially conceals the spherical member and the receiving member from view. The cover member may be an ornamental or functional structure, including a wearable electronic device.

1. A textile fastener, comprising:
a single spherical member having a first diameter, wherein the single spherical member is comprised of a magnetic material; a receiving member, the receiving member comprising:
a flange portion; andan opening extending through the flange portion, wherein the opening is circular and has an inner diameter that is larger than the first diameter, and wherein the opening receives the textile and the single spherical member so that the single spherical member applies a friction force between the textile and the receiving member when the single spherical member is inserted into the opening, and wherein magnetic interaction between the single spherical member and the receiving member maintains at least a portion of the friction force between the textile and the receiving member; and a cover member, the cover member comprising:
an outer portion; andan inner portion joined to the outer portion, wherein the inner portion couples the cover member to the spherical member via magnetic interaction between the inner portion and the spherical member.
