A document base system and a method for extending the function of the document base system are disclosed. The method includes the steps: setting the system extended interface in the document base system; creating the extended function module conforming to the system extended interface; the document base system analyses the extended data via the system extended interface, and processes by calling corresponding extended function module. Using the method in the invention, it can extend the function of the document base system without recompiling the system.
