PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge which can hold a pressure in an ink tank constant at all times regardless of an opening and closing action of a valve provided at the ink tank. SOLUTION: A main tank 70 comprises an atmospheric air communication valve 110 and a pump 170. The atmospheric air communication valve 110 is held to be slidable in a valve storage chamber 85 formed in the main tank 70. The valve storage chamber 85 has a hole 100 which communicates with an air layer 83, and a hole 101 which communicates with the outside. The atmospheric air communication valve 110 includes a piston valve 113 with a rod 117 coupled to a piston 116. The rod 117 transmits a driving force from the pump 170 to the piston 116. The piston 116 slides between a position P1 where the hole 100 is blocked, and a position P2 where a passage leading from the hole 100 to the hole 101 is opened.
