PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of controlling the temperature of a light source with high accuracy, and a method for cooling a light source of a projector. SOLUTION: In a piping tube 4, air output from an air pump 3 is taken in from an intake port 4a, and the air taken in from the intake port 4a is output to a lamp 2 from a blow-off port 4b. Pressure inside the piping tube 4 has correlation with the flow rate of the air output from the blow-off port 4b. A pressure sensor 5 detects the pressure inside the piping tube 4, and a control part 7 controls the operation of the air pump 3 based on the pressure inside the piping tube 4 detected by the pressure sensor 5.
