PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which is provided with camera-shake compensation function and in which a position detection means for a moving member is composed with a small number of components. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus for making camera-shake compensation by relatively moving an imaging optical system 2 and an imaging element 14 in directions perpendicular to an optical axis direction is provided with: a magnet 9 attached to one of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging element 14, having a first magnetic field area forming a magnetic field in a first magnetic field direction X' perpendicular to the optical axis direction and a second magnetic field area forming a magnetic field in a second magnetic field direction Y' which is perpendicular to the optical axis direction and which intersects the first magnetic field direction X'; a first magnetic sensor 18 attached to the other of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging element 14 so as to detect the magnetic field in the first magnetic field area; and a second magnetic sensor 19 attached to the other of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging element 14 so as to detect the magnetic field in the second magnetic field area.
