PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex excellent in printing aptitude, etc., and especially, even if the printing velocity range is over a wide range, forming coated paper excellent in the printing aptitude. SOLUTION: This copolymer latex is provided by containing (B) a copolymer obtained by the emulsion polymerization of a second monomer component consisting of prescribed amounts of (d) an aliphatic conjugated diene-based monomer, (e) a vinyl cyanide monomer, (f) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (g) another monomer copolymerizable with the (d) through (f) [provided that, (d)+(e)+(f)+(g)=100 mass%] in the presence of a polymer (A) obtained by emulsion-polymerizing prescribed amounts of (a) an aliphatic group diene-based monomer, (b) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (c) another monomer copolymerizable with the (a) and (b) [provided that (a)+(b)+(c)=100 mass%], and having 50 to 120 nm number-average particle diameter of the copolymer (B).
