PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and automatically correct keystone distortion. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: an adjusting leg section 6 configured to be capable of protruding/retracting and changing a tilt condition of the projector; a reflection member 8 provided on a plane crossing the protruding/retracting movement direction of the adjusting leg section; a light emitting device 91; a light receiving device 92 that receives light radiated from the light emitting device 91 and reflected by the reflection member 8 and that outputs an electrical signal; a storage section 54 that stores keystone distortion correction amount information showing relation between a voltage signal and a keystone distortion correction amount of a projection image; and a keystone distortion correction section 521 that obtains a keystone distortion correction amount from the keystone distortion correction amount information based on the voltage signal output from the light emitting device 92 and that corrects the keystone distortion of the projection image. Since the keystone distortion correction amount is obtained by using the light emitting device 91, the light receiving device 92 and the reflection member 8, keystone distortion correction processing is inexpensively and automatically performed.
