The method involves moving transmitter and receiver parts (16, 14) of a sensor e.g. acceleration sensor, of a cabriolet hood (12) relative to each other through allocation to the cabriolet hood and to fixed parts by movement of the cabriolet hood. Electromagnetic waves (24, 26) are radiated by the transmitter part, where the electromagnetic waves are received by the receiver part. Movement information of the cabriolet hood is determined based on information coded in the electromagnetic waves and received by the receiver part. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for monitoring a cabriolet hood (2) a computer program product comprising a computer program.
