The sensor (10) has a magnet arrangement (20) attached to a hall sensor (30), where the magnet arrangement and the hall sensor are held movably relative to one another. The hall sensor produces an electrical voltage signal based on its position relative to the magnet arrangement. The magnet arrangement has two bar magnets (21, 22), which are arranged at a distance from one another and parallel to one another. The hall sensor is arranged approximately in center in a gap between the two bar magnets. The bar magnets are held by a magnet carrier (23). An independent claim is also included for a servo device for linear operation of a teller shaped unit.
