PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative ion generator which can be manufactured in a compact size at low cost by commonly using a blowing mechanism and a negative ion generating mechanism, and yet capable of giving a visually interesting stage effect. SOLUTION: A discharge electrode 1 with its tip arranged to be directed toward a downward stream of ion wind to be generated, and a counter electrode 2 arranged so as to go along the ion wind at a downstream side of the discharge electrode 1 are provided. The discharge electrode 1 is for generating ion wind of negative ion by corona discharge due to impression of a negative potential, and further at a downstream side of the counter electrode 2, a movable stage-effect member 3 is provided for producing a visual effect by moving with wind force of the ion wind generated.
