PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for creating road surface image which can identify the location or the developing geometry of cracks, even if size reduction of the road surface image is to be displayed. SOLUTION: This is a method for creating road surface microimage which can identify the location or the developing geometry of minute cracks and comprises a process of repeatedly photographing road surface, while traveling the road; a process of generating the road surface image data which describes road surface image formed by interlinking the photographed original images; a process of identifying location and developing geometry of cracks on the road surface image from the road surface image data; a process of generating road surface microimage data which describes road surface microimage formed, by reducing the road surface image from the road surface image data; a process of computing the location and the developing geometry of cracks on the road surface microimage, from the location and the developing geometry of the cracks on the road surface image in accordance with the reduction ratio from road surface image to road surface microimage; and a process of outputting crack identification image, formed by overlaying the location and developing geometry of the cracks on the road surface microimage, onto the road surface microimage so as to be identifiable.
