<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-route image receiving apparatus capable of effectively utilizing transmission capacity of an auxiliary system while securing high reliability in transmission. <P>SOLUTION: An input image 1 is encoded to be temporally deviated by encoders 3, 4 and transmitted via a transmission line. At a receiving side, the image is decoded by decoders 5, 6 and an average value is calculated for each pixel by an averaging processing unit 7a and output. When a plurality of routes are normal, the output of the averaging processing unit 7a is selected by a data selecting unit 7b and when a fault occurs in any one of the plurality of routes, a decoded output of a normal route is selected. As a concrete method for bringing an image into a temporally deviated relationship, there is a method of deviating an intra-frame encoding timing during encoding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
