<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for mounting electronic component in which the attachment compatibility of a part feeder is enhanced, while simplifying the mechanism and the apparatus can be made compact, and to provide a device and a method for drawing a tray. <P>SOLUTION: In a tray feeder for drawing a tray from a rack, together with a tray plate by means of a tray drawing device having a drawing mechanism 20; an engaging part 42a, provided at a portion 21 moving horizontally through a drive mechanism along a drawer rail 30, is displaced between a drawing start position engaging with a cut 17c in the tray plate stored in the rack, and a drawing finish position, engaging with the cut 17c in the tray plate held at a part take-out position, by making a rocking member 37 turn about the axial fulcrum 38.
