<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for alternating-current generators wherein a request for increase in electricity generated is appropriately coped with and further fluctuation in the rotational speed of an internal combustion engine can be suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: A regulator 50 controls the output voltage of an alternator 40 by controlling switching of a switching element 53. ECU 70 supplies an upper limit value of duty value for the switching control to the regulator 50. This upper limit value is computed by adding an offset value to an actual duty value.
