PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase secrecy of video information without burdening a user, and further to secure complete secrecy of the video information. SOLUTION: A video display device is arranged so that it can be equipped at a user's, comprising: a light source; a spatial light modulator; a lighting optical system which leads the light from the light source to the spatial light modulator; and a projection optical system with a holographic optical element projects the video light from the spatial light modulator, and while the video display device is allowed to display the video information when the user who has equipped this video display apparatus is authenticated as a person authenticated by an authentication device, a controller device halts the display of the video information in the video display device when a state detection device detects that the video display device is not equipped in the display state.
