PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display apparatus having a video adjustment function for revising settings of display characteristics in each item of a user menu that makes functions of each items in the video adjustment understandable for a user. SOLUTION: The video display apparatus sequentially displays a function explanation image for visually explaining a function of each of items of the video adjustment in response to the selection of each item on a video adjustment image (left screen) on which the user menu of the video adjustment is displayed. The function explanation image includes a moving picture and the display apparatus displays a pair of images with different display characteristics as to the same image side by side. When a setting condition of a selected item is revised by an increase/decrease key or the like, the revised display characteristic is reflected on one of a pair of the function explanation images or a view image displayed on a right screen.
