Cam (1) comprises an impression (7) formed on at least one of two lateral surfaces and a cam edge (6) formed between the impression and the outer contour (3) of the cam. Preferred Features: The impression is formed by forging and is arranged on both sides of the cam. The impression has a symmetrical depth and a base (18) aligned perpendicular to the cam running surface.
