A plurality of control curves (20) are provided as boundary conditions to a partial differential equation. At least one of the boundary conditions is defined as a function of time ( t) . Solving the partial differential equation with respect to the time-variant boundary conditions provides a surface patch of a 3D object (10) which changes over time. A time-variant spine (30) may also be provided which coordinates manipulation of the control curves, thereby providing a time-based animation of a PDE surface patch. |
