PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle diagnosis system capable of specifying the faulty part of a vehicle easily. SOLUTION: In the vehicle diagnosis system, data corresponding to a data ID are returned from an ECU when the data ID are transmitted from a diagnosis tool to the ECU, and the data are displayed at the side of the diagnosis tool. In the vehicle diagnosis system, the ECU stores tables (a)-(c) for retrieving the data ID for recording the data ID of data considered to be related to the content shown by the code for retrieval for each of a plurality of codes for retrieval comprising three types, namely a functional ID for indicating functions, a forced drive ID for allowing the ECU to forcibly drive a control target, and a diagnosis code for indicating the type of failure. When either code for retrieval is inputted, the diagnosis tool transmits it to the ECU. The ECU retrieves the data ID corresponding to the code for retrieval received from the diagnosis tool from the table, and returns the data ID to the diagnosis tool.
