PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system for an elevator with sufficient convenience and sufficient operability, which further suppresses increase of cost of a whole of the system. SOLUTION: The monitoring system for the elevator relating to the present invention is provided with: a story input part 2; an image recording device 4; and a controller part 6. The input part 2 is installed in a car 1, is constituted by a plurality of input parts, and performs operation of a stopping story of the car 1. The image recording device records the image photographed by a camera installed in the car 1 and reproduces the image. In an operation mode of the image recording device, the controller part 6 functions the story input part 2 as an operation part of the image recording device 4 according to a corresponding relationship of the input part constituting the input part and the operation relative to the image recording/reproduction device.
