PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester composition excellent in fiber-forming property, capable of producing a fiber exhibiting a high strength especially in one step spinning process of producing the fiber by using a polyester produced by using mainly a titanium catalyst, and the fiber consisting of the same. SOLUTION: This polyester excellent in fiber-forming property is provided with that the polyester has≥90 mol% ethylene terephthalate unit in the total recurring units constituting the polyester, the amount of antimony element contained in the polyester is <15 mass ppm and non-metal ionic compounds is contained by 0,005 to 5 mol% range based on the total recurring unit constituting the polyester.
