PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive, safe and compact water-refrigerant heat exchanger. SOLUTION: This heat exchanger comprises a spirally wound inside refrigerant pipe 2; a water passage 3 spirally provided closely to the outer circumference of the inside refrigerant pipe 2; and an outside refrigerant pipe 4 spirally provided closely to the outer circumference of the water passage 3. The water passage 3, the inside refrigerant pipe 2 and the outside refrigerant pipe 4 are wound in the same direction, and refrigerant in the inside refrigerant pipe 2 and the outside refrigerant pipe 4 is made to flow in the same direction which is opposite to the flowing direction of water in the water passage 3.
