<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect a traffic indicator based on image data showing the front of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing system comprises a forward recognition device 4 for recognizing a forward traveling direction of a vehicle, a vehicle location detection device 2 for detecting a location and attitude of the vehicle, a map database 3 for storing a road map, an indicator location estimation section 7 for estimating a location of a traffic indicator on the basis of a road shape in a forward traveling direction extracted from the map database 3 in response to the location of the vehicle obtained by the vehicle location detection device, an image processing area calculation section 8 for determining an image processing area on image data acquired by the forward recognition device on the basis of the location of the traffic indicator estimated by the indicator location estimation section, and a traffic indicator detection section 9 for detecting the traffic indicator from the image processing area determined by the image processing area calculation section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
