The invention relates to an underfloor wheel set lathe for machining the profile of the wheels (8, 9) of wheel sets for railway vehicles, said wheel sets being rotatably mounted outside the wheels in axle bearing housings. The underfloor wheel set lathe comprises a lathe frame (10), two supports that are mounted on the lathe frame, are movable in the X direction and Z direction of the underfloor wheel set lathe, and are embodied so as to accommodate machining tools, lead-in rails (5, 6) which can be removed during machining and are used for positioning the wheels (8, 9) above the tools, clamping elements for gripping the axle bearing housings, and pairs of rollers for each wheel (8, 9) in order to raise, drive, and lower the wheel set before, during, and following the machining process. The inventive underfloor wheel set lathe is configured to as to be incorporated into a maintenance pit (1) for railway vehicles and comprises a lathe frame (10) whose vertical height (11) is smaller than the depth (2) of the maintenance pit (1). One lateral recess (15, 16) is provided in the maintenance pit (1), in the area of the two faces of the lathe frame (10), in order to accommodate the clamping elements, drives for the pairs of rollers, and the removed lead-in rails (5, 6). |
