摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector and detection method for acquiring information on an object at a relatively high speed without damaging the accuracy by radiating electromagnetic wave as a rectangular beam to the object. <P>SOLUTION: The detector comprises radiating means 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6, a detecting means 2, and an information acquiring means. The radiating means radiate, as the rectangular beam, the electromagnetic wave that includes at least partial frequency component of the frequency region of 30 GHz to 30 THz and where amplitude variation occurs only in time of 10<SP>-11</SP>seconds or more or the amplitude is constant over time, to the object 9. The detecting means detects the electromagnetic wave having permeated through or reflected by the object 9 by the interaction between the object 9 and the electromagnetic wave.
