A negative electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a mixture layer superimposed on a current collector. The mixture layer contains at least a composite negative electrode active material composed of silicic particles capable of lithium ion occlusion and release, carbon nanofibers and a catalyst element, a first binder of acrylated polymer and a second binder of sticky rubber particles. The first binder sticks to the silicic particles and the current collector. The second binder sticks to carbon nanofibers (12) simultaneously.
