PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to record an audio signal recorded in a first disk into a second disk without any troublesome by minimizing the deterioration of sound quality of the audio signal when the audio signal recorded in the first disk such as a MP3-CD is recorded in the second disk such as a MD. SOLUTION: The audio signal recording apparatus is provided with: a reproduced signal processing part 10 outputting an audio signal which is reproduced from the first disk and in which extension processing is performed in a MP3 file; a reproduction control part 14 obtaining music information of the MP3 file; a recording signal processing part 12 outputting ATRAC (Adaptive TRansform Acoustic Coding) data in which compression processing by the ATRAC of a plurality of recording modes is performed for the audio signal output from the reproduced signal processing part; a disk recording part 23 recording the ATRAC data in the second disk; and a recording control part 25 deciding a recording mode of the reproduced signal processing part based on recording residual time information obtained from the music information and the second disk, performing compression processing by ATRAC for the audio signal based on the recording mode, and controls so that the ATRAC data is recorded in the second disk.
