PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide images suitable for diagnosis at all times regardless of the presence/absence of halation in endoscopic imaging. SOLUTION: Luminance images are generated from frame images inputted from a scope (S101 and S102), and a high luminance pixel group wherein a prescribed number or more of pixels whose luminance value exceeds a prescribed value are arranged side by side is detected (S103). Only when the high luminance pixel group is detected, light quantity is adjusted by a microcomputer. When the high luminance pixel group is not detected anymore, luminance blurred images are generated from the luminance images (S104), the value of pixels constituting the luminance blurred images is replaced with a zero value for the pixels of a prescribed luminance value or higher, and futher a smaller luminance value is replaced with a larger luminance value for the pixels of the prescribed luminance value or below (S105). Then, by adding the luminance blurred images to which replacing processing is performed to the luminance images, the luminance conversion of the luminance images is performed (S106).
