PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip-type resistor capable of preventing an overcoated layer from blurring and spreading on the end edge of the overcoated layer with the upper surface of the overcoated layer flattened. SOLUTION: The chip-type resistor comprises a resistor formed by applying resistor paste between electrodes provided spaced away at a predetermined distance and sintering it, and the overcoated layer coated with the resistor. The overcoated layer is a double layer structure composed of a first overcoated layer and a second overcoated layer. Particularly, the first overcoated layer is formed at the end of the resistor excepting the center of the resistor, and the second overcoated layer is formed between the first overcoated layers.
