<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein a reading unit can be selectively used, and also, the reading unit can be temporarily installed without increasing the installation space of the apparatus in the case of not using the reading unit. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a recording unit 1 equipped with an image forming engine 2 capable of forming an image on a recording material 3; a recording material supply tray 4 provided to supply the recording material 3 to the recording unit 1, and arranged so that a part of the tray 4 projects from one side face of the recording unit housing 1a; the reading unit 5 arranged apart from the recording unit 1, and provided to read an original image and also to supply the read image to the image forming engine 2 of the recording unit 1; and a temporary installing means 6 for temporarily installing the reading unit in an open space right above the recording material supply tray projection part 4a projecting from the one side face of the recording unit housing 1a in the case of not using the reading unit 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
