PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which is configured to set a threshold value for obtaining image information binarized with optimal contrast for a document to be output, and a binarization processing program therefor. SOLUTION: In an image processing apparatus 10 in which image information 310 produced by an image reading section 300 is binarized and output by a prescribed threshold value 710 set by a threshold setting section 700, a display section 220 is provided for displaying, as adjustment image information 810, multi-gradation image information in the area of at least a part of the document and while referring to an indication on the display section, the adjustment image information is displayed on the display section while varying its gradation density so as to get pale gradually by a threshold value reset by the threshold setting section.
