Shaft seal having independent sealing lips

A shaft seal includes a rigid annular casing to which a body of elastomeric seal material is molded. At least one elastomeric seal lip is formed of the elastomeric material. A PTFE element is bonded to the elastomer material and is formed with an undercut that extends beneath the PTFE element to provide a flex hinge to the PTFE element that is isolated and independent from a hinge of the elastomeric seal lip.
