<p>A method for degassing and filling a flat tube heat exchanger with a flat aperture uses a suction cup connector (611) pressed over the aperture and connected to a pumping tube to apply a negative pressure to degas the heat exchanger. A metered coolant charge is inserted and the aperture is sealed without deforming the panel, e.g. by welding.</p>
