HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE

A honeycomb structure capable of clearly identifying a boundary between a honeycomb unit and a honeycomb monolith body and a seal material layer (adhesive material) at the end face of the honeycomb structure and having excellent inspection performance. The honeycomb structure is characterized in that the seal material layer uses a material having a CIE (1976) psychometric lightness L* of 60 or higher. By forming the seal material layer in this structure, the honeycomb structure capable of making clear the boundary between the honeycomb unit and the honeycomb monolith body and the seal material layer can be provided. The honeycomb structure of this invention can be used for an exhaust emission control device of a vehicle.
