A norbornene addition copolymer obtained by addition copolymerization of (A) a norbornene monomer, (B) an aromatic vinyl compound and (C) an a-olefin having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, wherein the sum of the content of repeating units derived from the norbornene monomer (A) and that of repeating units derived from the aromatic vinyl compound (B) is 25 to 90 % by mole based on the whole of the repeating units constituting the copolymer and the content of repeating units derived from the aromatic vinyl compound (B) is 0.55 to 10 times (by mole) that of repeating units derived from the norbornene monomer (A); and moldings of the addition copolymer. The invention provides a norbornene addition copolymer having high transparency, a high refractive index, and a low intrinsic birefringence, and moldings of the copolymer.
