PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical element capable of efficiently manufacturing the optical element provided with a resin layer and having a non-circular outer peripheral shape. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the optical element constituted by providing the resin layer, which is formed into a lens surface shape, on one side of a light pervious member having the non-circular outer peripheral shape comprises a process for dropping an uncured optical material resin on the center part of a circumcircle with respect to a mold material, which respectively has a lens forming region for forming a plurality of lens surface shapes to the resin layer and the dummy region positioned between the lens forming region and the circumcircle of the lens forming region or the substrate of the light pervious member, a coating process for pressing and spreading the optical material resin into a concentric circular shape by the mold material or the substrate to apply the same to the lens forming region, a process for curing the optical material resin and a dividing process for dividing the substrate to fragment the optical element.
