PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear bumper mounting structure capable of preventing the deformation from affecting a back door, and reducing the repair cost. SOLUTION: In the rear bumper mounting structure, a rear bumper 4 is attached to a back door 3 attached to an opening 2 in a rear portion of a vehicle body 1 in an opening/closing manner by a holding means 5. An extension part 4e is formed on the rear bumper 4 on both sides over the width of the back door 3. A fitting means to position and brace the rear bumper 4 to the vehicle body and the back door 3 is provided between circumferential edge parts 2a of the opening 2 facing each of the extension parts 4e. A holding means 5, in which the rear bumper 4 is held and attached to the back door 3 in a normal state, and the rear bumper is detached therefrom when an impact load is input, is provided between each of the extension parts 4e and a side part of the back door 3.
