PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of determining easily and quickly in a field the presence of an organic chlorine compound contained in a polysulfide resin, and a device therefor. SOLUTION: In this method of determining the polysulfide resin containing the organic chlorine compound, the polysulfide resin of a determination object is extracted using an organic solvent capable of dissolving the organic chlorine compound, a binding chlorine in the organic chlorine compound is treated in the solvent to be eliminated as chloride ion, the presence of the chloride ion is detected thereafter in the solvent, and the polysulfide resin is determined to contain the organic chlorine compound, when the chloride ion exists therein.
