PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overhanging roadway block which enables widening of a road while ensuring the durability/stability thereof irrespective of the state of an existing slope, contributes to reduction of traffic regulation to a possible minimum extent during execution of widening work, facilitates adjustment of a step/level between the continuously arranged blocks, and allows the widening work in a simple and easy manner in a short construction period, and to provide a method of constructing an overhanging roadway using the blocks. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the overhanging roadway block 11 for use in widening the existing road having a road-side edge thereof constructed of a retaining wall, toward the retaining wall, a longitudinal end of a main body formed like an almost flat plate serves as an overhanging portion 2 and the other end as a weight portion 3, respectively. Then a flat surface side of the main body is formed substantially into a plane, and a bottom surface side of the main body has a mounting portion 4 to be mounted on a top surface of the retaining wall, at a location between the overhanging portion 2 and the weight portion 3. Further in order to locate a bottom surface of the weight portion 3 lower than a bottom surface of the mounting portion 4, the weight portion 3 is made thick and integrally formed with the main body, and height adjusting means 32, 41 are provided for the mounting portion 4 and the weight portion 3, respectively.
