PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of supporting intuitive understanding of luminance information by a user. SOLUTION: In the electronic camera provided with displaying means (13, 17) for displaying luminance information extracted from a color image, the displaying means (13, 17) simultaneously display a monochrome image that expresses the color image by monochromatic gradation as well as the luminance information. Since the monochrome image expresses each part on the color image with brightness corresponding to the luminance of the each part regardless of the color of the each part, the monochrome image supports intuitive understanding of luminance information (luminance histogram, etc.,) by the user.
