PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrier holding material having good loading workability, excellent in heat resistance, contact pressure holding property and wind erosion resistance, and capable of simultaneously preventing a decrease in contact pressure and the scatter of a fiber piece though the amount of impregnation of an organic binder used for the purpose of fixing is reduced.

SOLUTION: The holding material comprises a mat of a fiber material having a predetermined thickness and is configured so as to be impregnated in combination with two kinds of binders having a different glass transition temperature (Tg).
